Zoom Info Session: Catalyst and Accelerator Awards, February 3, 2021.

Over 100 researchers from the 3 CBC universities received up-to-date information regarding the Catalyst and Accelerator Award programs on February 3, 2021. The webinar’s goal was to inform researchers of the goals, eligibility requirements, and overviews of the proposal submission and review process for both Award programs.

Karen Snapp, CBC Senior Associate Director, provided information about the Catalyst Award program which supports projects focused on basic fundamental biological/biomedical questions. Projects must be high-risk/high-reward, innovative and tranformative. The program is open to all tenured or tenure-track faculty at the 3 CBC universities and must include a new collaboration between PIs from at least 2 of the CBC universities. Nancy Tyrrell, Associate Director for Translational Activities, gave a summary of the Accelerator Award program which supports translational research focused on the development of a therapeutic or an associated biomarker or diagnostic. Accelerator applicants must be tenured or on a tenure- or clinical-track and have their research programs at NU, UChicago and/or UIC. A robust Q & A session followed the presentations.
