Workshop Recap

February 13, 2013

The Workshop on the CBC Catalyst Award Program took place at UIC campus on February 13, 2013. The goal of the workshop was to demystify the Catalyst program and help the CBC community members prepare strong proposals for the next deadline (March 6, 2013) and beyond. CBC Scientific Director Brian Kay gave opening remarks and provided an overview of the CBC and CBC-funded Awards, focusing on the CBC Catalyst Award program. To illustrate successful collaborations and proposals, two principal investigators from UIC, Larry Miller and Jung-Hyun Min, who received CBC Catalyst Awards in the past, presented two respective case studies:

Following the ‘case-studies’ a member of the CBC Scientific Review Board, Leslie Fung (UIC), spoke about the Catalyst review process and opened the floor to a vivid Q&A.

The workshop was open to all faculty from the three CBC institutions. Over 30 UIC faculty as well as a few guests from NU attended the workshop.
