RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Rima successfully defended her thesis work in December 2010. Her dissertation was titled: Drug Discovery and Design for the inhibition SARS-Coronavirus and Hepatitis C virus.
Rima is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Research for Biomedicine (IRB, Barcelona) of University of Barcelona at the Barcelona Science Park. She joined the Molecular Modelling and Bioinformatics laboratory of Modesto Orozco, Ph.D. She started at this position in March of 2011 and has been actively working on a physics based method to enhance docking enrichment for virtual highthroughput screening of chemical databases against therapeutic targets for the discovery and eventual design of lead drug molecules. In her current project, she is working on multitarget screening and re-positioning of known drugs. This involves network medicine approaches to human disease, conceptualization and application of druggability tests ensued by inhibitor design for receptors sharing common binding site features.
